Mayfield suspended

The Charlotte 49ers suspended junior DeMario Mayfield indefinitely on Wednesday afternoon.
This is the second time that Mayfield has been suspended this season - and third time in 11 months.

He was suspended for one game last season after he was arrested for possession of marijuana.
Mayfield is the team's leading scorer at 11.7 points per game. He will not play against Massachusetts during homecoming on Saturday.
"We are disappointed in the decisions that DeMario has made which has led to the suspension," 49ers Head Coach Alan Major said via an official release from the university. "We will stay the course and we will rally around each other."
"We are disappointed to make this announcement," Athletics Director Judy Rose said in the same statement. "Our policies are in place for a reason and our student-athletes are expected to abide by them."
