Michael Beasley would like to set the record straight once and for all.

He's sick and tired of hearing the question… Well, actually, that's only how he feels half of the time, the other times that he answers the question, "I mean come on Mike are you really going to play for UNC Charlotte," he just laughs.
"It's funny that people have these rumors," Beasley said. "But all of the rumors are false, because there isn't going to be a decommitment or transfer or anything like that."
It's that simple. Beasley said that his guess is as good as yours why people just can't stomach the No. 3 rated player in the class of 2007, donning a Charlotte uniform.
"Maybe people just like to have things to talk about," he said. "But, I don't know, you would think that they would get it, because my answer is and always has been the same."
And that's a resounding: "Yeah, I'm definitely still going to Charlotte."
Former Charlotte center Martin Iti went through similar speculation when he made an early pledge to play for the Niners in 2002. But like Iti, Beasley plans to be a Niner come 2007.
At one point Lakers rookie and former Florida State guard Von Wafer was nearing a verbal commitment to Charlotte before he left Larinburg Prep. In 2004 Kentucky guard Rajon Rondo named Charlotte as his leader at one point. Both players were McDonald's All-Americans.
The situation with Beasley is different. He did actually commit to the Niners, and according to him that won't change.
"The bottomline is that when November of 2007 comes around I will be in a Charlotte uniform," Beasley said.
And it doesn't get much more direct than that.
IMPORTANT EXTRA
The last time we talked to Nolan Smith he was visiting Charlotte and he told us that the Niners were high on his list, in a tie for his services with Louisville. Well, according to Beasley that's changed. He told us that Nolan is still considering Charlotte, but favoring Louisville and now Syracuse.
