Baseball releases 2013 schedule
The Charlotte 49ers baseball team announced their 2013 schedule on Thursday afternoon. It features 36 games - including tilts with all four ACC teams. They will also host the Atlantic 10 Championships in May in their last season with the conference.
The 49ers season will begin on Friday, Feb. 13, with a four game series against Delaware State.
After trips to High Point and Wake Forest, the 49ers will play 13 consecutive games at home against Youngstown State (4), Wake Forest, Kent State (3), Virginia Tech and Siena (4.)
After that homestand, the 49ers will travel to Duke, Richmond (3) and Presbyterian.
They'll return home for a set against VCU and then travel to USC Upstate before returning to The Hayes for another seven game homestand with series against UNC Asheville and George Washington. Out of conference tilts against Winthrop and North Carolina State are in that mix as well.
The 49ers will then play nine of 10 away from The Hayes with trips to Winthrop, Xavier, North Carolina, Temple and Coastal Carolina. A game against Presbyterian is the lone home contest during that span.
They'll finish the season with home series against Butler, Dayton and a game against High Point before traveling to Saint Louis to end the season before hosting the A10 Tournament.
"It is good to challenge our guys and our program with quality regional opponents on the schedule," Charlotte Head Coach Loren Hibbs said via a university release. "It is something we have done for years. This schedule reflects our commitment to play the best out of conference schedule possible while providing our fans the opportunity to watch some great college baseball at Hayes Stadium."
